As someone who has owned a Vitamix for four years now, I can honestly say that it has been one of the best purchases I have ever made. As someone who loves creating and cooking food, I have discovered that owning a Vitamix is a necessity in the kitchen!
A few years ago I thought that all blenders were the same. I had purchased a Magic Bullet after seeing all the things that it could do via an infomercial, only to be highly disappointed when I discovered that it couldn’t do anything that the infomercial had claimed it to do.
I had troubles grinding, chopping, and even blending with the Magic Bullet, which had me pushing it to the back of my cabinets relegated to only basic smoothies. I needed more power!
That’s when I found the Vitamix Creations GC. The Vitamix Creations GC model is part of the C series, one of the older and more basic models of the Vitamix blenders.
Essentially this model is the same as the Vitamix 5200 series. The Vitamix 5200 is one of the most popular models, due to it’s price as well as power, and is used for so much than just basic smoothie making.
All About The Vitamix Creations GC
The Vitamix Creations GC model stands 17.4″ tall when the 48-ounce container is sitting on the motor base. It measures 7.25″ wide, 8.75″ deep and weighs roughly 10 1/2 pounds.
It has a 3-pronged power cord that measures 6 feet, which is helpful for tight or small counter spaces. This cord can be wound up and stored beneath the motor base, allowing you to leave out only as much as you need.
The Vitamix Creation package comes with a Creations cookbook, a Getting Started guide, a Let’s Get Started DVD and a tamper.
The motor is a 2-peak horsepower motor, which is what gives the Vitamix brand blenders their superior blending power. In order to prevent the motor from overheating and burning out, the Creations is fitted with a radial cooling fan for efficient cooling even at the higher speeds.
The Vitamix Creations series is marketed as a 13-in-1 blender, which means it can be used to replace 13 appliances.
A cut above the rest. The powerful motor, contoured blades and a smart container shape work together to create a virtual vortex inside the BPA-free 48-oz jar, which pulls your ingredients down through the blades continuously and back up the sides with variable speed and precision.
Break down whole foods, including skin, seeds, pith, leaves, and fiber to release more of their flavor and retain more nutritional value than juice alone.
The appliances it can replace are:
1. Juicer
2. Ice Cream Maker
3. Hot Soup Maker
4. Blender
5. Cheese Grater
6. Chopper
7. Meat Grinder
8. Ice Crusher
9. Nut Butter Maker
10. Immersion Blender
11. Food Processor
12. Hand Mixer
13. Fondue Maker
Though the Vitamix Creations series is capable of performing all of the tasks that those appliances do, some other parts might need to be purchased in order to do so. For example, to replace an ice cream maker you will need the correct type of bowl to chill the ice cream in.
The Vitamix will blend the ice cream, but in terms of storing it and allowing it to set up into soft but firm ice cream, you will need to purchase a separate bowl.
What I Have Made Using The Vitamix Creations:
- Fresh green juices
- Protein smoothies
- Almond butter
- Pureed soups
- Crushed ice for snow cones
- Chopped nuts
- Melted chocolate
- Green Superfood Powder
- Ice cream
- Puddings
Are There Any Downsides To The Vitamix Creations?
I have used my Vitamix almost daily for over four years now and have yet to find a disadvantage. The only possible disadvantage is the size of the blender container.
Due to the size of the container, it can be difficult to rinse or wash it in smaller sinks. The Vitamix cannot compete with the smaller sizes of the Magic Bullet containers, but the Magic Bullet blenders simply can’t match the power of a Vitamix blender.
Choosing between a Vitamix blender or other blender is really up to what you are willing to sacrifice – sink space or power!
As someone who loves to cook, I have used my Vitamix on a weekly (and sometimes daily) basis since purchasing it.
Most days I use it for a simple protein smoothies or fresh juice, but I have grown more and more dependent on it as my cooking skills have progressed.
I have truly enjoyed the variety of uses it has, as well as the ease of which it processes ingredients. After four years of using it often, it hasn’t slowed down a bit!
